HAPPY COLUMBUS DAY!!!!!
From
the Kalish & Withers clan
We hope
that this finds you in good health and spirits and having enjoyed a
splendid summer.
GRAHAM turned 23 in April and graduated,
cum laude, from the University of Georgia – Terry School of Business
on May 14, with a concentration in marketing and a minor in sociology.
He is working at Build-a-Bear Workshop® (BABW) headquarters, as a specialty
store marketing bear. He interned last summer and worked over
winter break at BABW. For the time being, Graham is living at home and
is enjoying being in St. Louis.
POWELL turned 26 in April. He continues
to make deals at Hilliker Corporation and enjoy downtown living.
He and Ralph are venturing into the restaurant business with a restauranteur,
Chris LaRocca, hoping opening a fast-casual eatery early in 2012.
Powell played softball with several high school friends and one of his
loft mates during the summer. Powell is active in his high school
alumni association and is the founding member of the St. Luke’s Hospital
Young Friends Board.
MANNING turned 29 in June. He deployed
to the Middle East from Ft Drum, NY on March 25th for 12 months.
Before deployment (December 10th), Manning graduated from Military Intelligence
School at Ft Huachuca, AZ and shortly thereafter left for a three+ week
vacation, traveling to London, Paris, Yerevan (Armenia), Rome, Tunis,
Madrid, Portugal and southern Spain.
ELEANOR - Sadly, her mother had a stroke
on Valentine’s Day and after three and a half weeks in the hospital/rehab,
came home to her carriage house. We really thought she would recover
completely but after numerous ups and downs and going into hospice care
at the end of March, she died very peacefully on Easter Monday.
As her mother’s Executor, Eleanor has been busy with the distribution
of the estate and refurbishing of the carriage house, where her Mom
lived. She continues to enjoy volunteering for the St. Louis Convention
& Visitor Commission and is overseeing major home improvements with
the reconstruction of significant portions of the basement.
RALPH has been performing as Branch
Rickey, with sell-out crowds.to friends, families and baseball fans,
at the Gaslight Theatre. He also performed to seniors at the Willows
and The Gatesworth. His law practice continues at a robust pace
and his mediation practice is growing. Ralph has thoroughly enjoyed
watching Powell’s aggressively and professionally negotiate the restaurant
lease and help set the course for this enterprise.
RALPH and ELEANOR had a wonderful 17 day trip to Stockholm,
Bergen (Norway), Oslo, Bruges, Odense
(Denmark), LEGOLAND® and Copenhagen to celebrate Eleanor‘s early
60th birthday.
The five of us rendez- voused in Denver in early November. We ate as much as we could but didn’t come close to conquering the myriad restaurants that Denver has to offer.
We wish
you much happiness and good health in the months and years to come.
With love from Graham, Powell, Manning, Eleanor and Ralph
