Thanksgiving Roundup

This Thanksgiving was especially poignant, being the first family gathering since our loss of Jack. We were happy to be with family and friends — very ‘gemuchlicheit’. That this was so is a tribute to Sarah Fehlig, and all who worked to make not only Thanksgiving but also the Trailblazing Day and Trail Walk such memorable experiences. But then to do so for such a special person as Jack was not difficult.

Here is our attempt to capture this day for family members unable to be with us. As always, our apologies if we have left anyone out – some photos were not as flattering as the subject matter would allow.

Jack admired Emily Dickinson. Here is the first entry in her Everyman’s Pocket Poets edition:

This is my letter to the World
That never wrote to Me –
The simple News that Nature told –
With tender Majesty.

Her Message is committed
To Hands I cannot see –
For love of Her – Sweet-countrymen –
Judge tenderly – of Me
