Our family was shocked and terribly saddened to learn that Saturday May 3, our cousin, Leslie Mueller of San Angelo Texas, was killed in a fall while hiking with her husband Fred in Colorado. Leslie, the daughter of Chico and Ginnie Denis, had visited St Louis and Moone Athy with her family before Uncle Polky died, and was much interested in strengthening the links between the St Louis and San Angelo branches of the Chambers family. She was a particular favorite of Grizelda Skinner with whom she maintained an active correspondence during her teen years. Like Grizelda she had a special love of riding.
This is the obituary which appeared today in the San Angelo newspaper.
SAN ANGELO Leslie J. Mueller, age 47, died Saturday, May 3, 2008, in a hiking accident. She was born Nov. 1, 1960, in San Angelo, Texas. She grew up on the ranch at Vancourt, Texas, attending Wall ISD through the 12th grade. She received a Masters degree in Catholic Theology from Loyola University that she put to use after her retirement when she focused her attention on the church community. She was the Director of Religious Education at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, led Adult Faith classes on Sunday, organized the Church library and inspired all of those around her. She also became an oblate of the Benedictine Order, splitting her time between her beloved children, husband, extended family, church activities and her favorite pastime, her love for horses. She is survived by her husband and the love of her life, Fred Mueller, who she would have spent 27 wonderful years with this May 23rd, her three children, joys of her life, Amanda and her husband John Abright of Austin and Ariel and Alex of Wall. She is also survived by her parents, A.H.
