Kudos for Emma Louise in the Daily Telegraph

No. 18

The prestigious British periodical The Daily Telegraph featured our own Chambers relative Emma Louise Salter recently (Monday June 4, 2007 – not available on line). The article (“The Taste of Scrambled Ego”) notes that “Emma Louise lectures on eating disorders at top schools such as Beneden and Woldingham.” Emma Louise has had important insights into the biological and psychological causes and the best remedies for this epidemic which primarily afflicts young women. The article includes a marvellous photo of E.L. instructing a group of attentive students – my faxed copy of the article is of a quality precluding posting but if anyone has an original copy or high quality photocopy we’d  like to put it up in OurRumpus!

Good work Emma Louise!

On Monday, 21 May, Nick Salter hosted a wonderful dinner at his flat in Chelsea for Molly and Gareth Owen and Bob and Sarah Dunn. We were able to catch up on the Owen’s travels. Molly is traveling internationally, working for a non-profit that trades shares in CO2 emissions, and is headed to South Africa shortly. Gareth continues to do his diplomacy work for Great Britain, and both will be back in St Louis at the end of June for a stay with Molly’s parents, Bill and Sarah Hollo. Nicholas continues his real estate work and we hope will be back state-side soon where everyone is trying to lure him to come by for a visit.

Molly and Gareth travel all over London by bicycle – hence the bright green luminescent jackets!Nicks's Flat

We have just got word that George and Lucy Judy have received good news, confirmation of the long anticipated adoption of their first child, a girl, born last October 26th, in China. Our understanding is that George and Lucy plan a trip to China in August to bring the newest Judy back home to Wisconsin. Here is George’s update:

We just received our referral! Lucy and I couldn’t be happier!

Here’s the link to our blog with our announcement and picture.

Feel free to post it on the Chamber’s Website.

We will be traveling to China sometime in August and we’ll be updating the blog along the way for those that would like to follow along. It will no doubt be the adventure of a lifetime.

Here she is!

Family Updates – The Kalishes

Filed under: Family Updates — rcdunnii @ 8:08 am

A primary function of the Chambers Chambers blog is to keep the far flung family informed about the doings of the clan members. We would encourage everyone to use this vehicle to let everyone know what (honorable) things you and yours are up to. Today we have Eleanor and Ralph to thank for contributing this update about their crew:

“Here’s an update on our boys:

Manning Kalish

After graduating from the University of Washington in 2005, Manning spent another year in Seattle working for an import/export company. In September 2006, he began Officer Candidate School at Ft Benning GA and was commissioned on January 18th. Mom, Anne Dollimore, Ralph, Graham and I were all there. Unfortunately, Powell was not able to get out of classes. After further training in Georgia, he will move to (appropriately enough!) Ft Polk, LA.

Powell Kalish

Powell will be a senior at Indiana University in the Fall, majoring in sports marketing. This summer he is working at the football division of Creative Artists Agency (“CAA”), based here in Clayton. CAA is the same agency Michael Ovitz built in LA, originally with movie stars and now expanded to professional athletes. Powell is working on various matters for NFL players. In the Fall, Powell will be one of the marketing assistants for IU athletics. This will involve game day prep for football and basketball as well as marketing campaigns for all other sports.

Graham Kalish

Graham graduates from Country Day (MICDS) on May 29th. He leaves for a trip to Europe with two friends on June 6th. Graham will either be working for pay and/or volunteering this summer before beginning his collegiate career at the University of Georgia in Athens pursuing a degree in international business.

We hope this finds you all well and it would be great to hear what’s going on with you and yours.

Happy summer!

Eleanor and Ralph
