To get us into the Easter mood, here’s a quiz. Here are two photos, one a famous composer and the other a famous performer. Who are they?
For a hint, here is an audio clip of one of this composer’s most famous compositions, sung by this performer.

Who are they? Reply in comments section below!

I recently began to read Willis Powell’s book, kindly sent to many in my generation several years ago by Bill Skinner, Tachyhippodamia, or Art of Quieting Wild Horses in a Few Hours!
It is fascinating, and includes a few details from his life that I think you’ll enjoy reading, if you haven’t already–for example, he ran a school called the College of Attakapas on his plantation, “close to town” where he also taught Latin, Greek, French, English and Spanish.
Love to all,
Anne

A brief update.
First, thanks to Charlie for jumping in – I think we have another editor! Most (see Comments) of his Easter ideas are great.
Second, we have a new addition to The Chambers which you will note in the sidebar, The Chambers Library. Here we hope to assemble biographies, anecdotes and the like that might be of interest to our group. Thanks to Jennie Quick, our first entry in the new library is a wonderful biography of Richard Walsh written by a contemporary. You will undoubtedly find it of interest. I suspect the group sorting through Uncle Polky’s letters and diaries at Moone Athy will be able to provide plenty of material for the library over time. If you have any letters of historical interest we can easily scan them in and get them on line too .
We’re still waiting for information in the way of comments to the Easter posts so we know how many people to expect, who is bringing/doing what, etc. So log in and tell everyone what you are planning to do – let me know if you need help getting into the swing of things.

For those of you who are lucky enough to join us for what promises to be yet another world-class Easter Egg Hunt at Moone Athy, please take a few moments to consider these very simple requests that apply only to those entering children in The Hunt. Please bring:
1) one dozen Easter Eggs dyed to your liking (hardboil them first),
2) one bag of candy miniatures of any variety (make sure they are individually wrapped),
3) your own Easter Egg Basket, and
4) a camera.
The Hunt will begin promptly after lunch so as not to ruin appetites. If weather appears daunting, don’t fret – we’ll conduct an indoor hunt.
IMPORTANT: We will need an adult or two to distract the little ones as the Easter Bunny arrives. I would recommend that either Uncle Bob keeps them busy at the Piano or Aunt Sarah Dunn takes them for a quick wildlife hike…weather permitting, of course. If anyone has any other bright ideas, feel free to volunteer.
One final note, and on this I must be firm. The Kalish Boys are simply too big to participate in The Hunt any more….Sorry, boys.
Looking forward to seeing you all!
Charlie

We have created a family blog and we thought preparations for Easter dinner on April 8 would be a good time for launching it.
At this point, Gina is on board for doing the lamb. Charley Judy has agreed to organzie the children’s egg hunt. Anne Dollimore is bringing the caramel cake. The Laws are supplying the cheeses before lunch.
Would family members let me know if they will be in attendance, if so what their numbers will be? Would you tell me what you brought last year and if you would be willing to do the same for this Easter.
How does noon arrival sound with dinner served between 1-1:30?
Any suggestions or comments with regard to the festivities are welcome.
